[sticky post] Introduction

If you're reading this, you're probably a new follower/friend. So first off, hello and welcome! My name is Ashley, and though I have numerous nicknames I really prefer Ash. I am currently 26 years old, born on December 1st in Dallas, Texas. I currently reside in the simultaneously depressing and kick ass city of Buffalo, NY. I live with my parents and their dog right now because it's financially smart (read: cheap as hell), but will be moving out by the end of the year.

I am engaged to a wonderful man named Patrick. We're getting married on October 13th this year and are having a Disney Beauty & the Beast themed wedding. Patrick and I first met thirteen years ago when we were in 8th grade at a place called Eastern Hills Skating Rink. At the time, it was the cool place to go on Friday nights. Over the years, our paths have crossed many times. Two years ago, our fates intertwined when we started dating. The rest, as they say, is that.

I'm just going to go on record and say that I have the best dog ever! His name is Stitch and he's a Golden Shepherd, which is a mix between a Golden Retriever and a German Shepherd. We've had him since he was three weeks old because the breeder told us he was eight weeks. We're very lucky he survived, especially since he was covered in fleas and mites. As a result of his rough start, he is much smaller at seven months old than he should be, weighing in around 50 pounds. He is sweet, submissive and overall, a ball of fluff and love. Expect lots of pictures of him (sorry in advance).

Some of my favorite things in the world are: (everything) Disney, tattoos, video games, Adventure Time, reading, anime, horror movies, going to punk shows, comic books, anything related to Alice in Wonderland, Halloween, Day of the Dead, rockabilly and motorcycles.

Just a fair warning: I am completely obsessed with all things Disney. I have a Disney villains half sleeve tattoo. I take a trip to one of the two American parks at least once a year. My future husband and I are going to Disney World for our honeymoon (because he loves Disney as much as I do). I have seen almost every movie made by Disney/Pixar, including the obscure ones such as Operation Dumbo Drop. Really, it would be simpler to just link you to this, because it's completely accurate.

As far as video games go, I'm mainly a RPG kind of girl. Don't get me wrong, I'll play FPS, anything with zombies, strategy, fighting and platformers, but RPGs are where my heart is. My favorite games of all time are Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, Kingdom Hearts I, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep, and, Kingdom Hearts II. I'm also a huge fan of the Zelda series, my favorite being Majora's Mask. Some other honorable mentions are: Bioshock, Dead Rising, Lollipop Chainsaw and Arkham Asylum.

Some things I really dislike are: being under high amounts of stress, trends, people who diss Disney, people who think drinking more than once a week makes me an alcoholic, cheap liquor, hangovers, doing laundry, Red 40 food coloring and being unemployed.

Over time, I'm sure more and more of my likes, dislikes and personality will become very apparent. For now, I'll close out this introduction with some pictures of the key people in my life and a little blurb about them.

Key Players In My LifeCollapse )

Fifteen Words

While browsing yesterday, I stumbled upon the fifteen words journal. I thought it was such an interesting concept, to convey a thought in fifteen words. I then got to thinking, what if I tried to describe my favorite things in fifteen words? And so, my personal fifteen word challenge was born. So far I have: Disney, Final Fantasy X, tattoos and horror movies.

Experience the joy of a child through the eyes of an adult - Disney, my Neverland.

Horror Movies
Chills, thrills and blood. Nausea, suspense and fear. Give me that adrenaline I so crave.

The machine buzzes, pushing ink under my skin, and leaves a permanent reminder in color.

Final Fantasy X
Now this one needs some a little explaining. There are two parts of the game that really stand out to me: when you find out Auron is an unsent and the ending. I cried when I found out Auron was an unsent and couldn't play the game for nearly two weeks. At the end of the game when Tidus disappears, I was seriously depressed. This game affected me that much. These fifteen words could also apply to a really funny story relating to FFX, but that is for another day.

Cry not for what is already lost, cry for what has yet to be saved.

On a completely different topic, I'm spending the day with three of my favorite people: Patrick, Mandi and Chris. We're exploring the south town wine trail, having a picnic lunch, then later doing a historic cruise which includes an open bar. Expect pictures of scenery and drunken-ness tomorrow.

Ramble and Roll

Since I was so productive yesterday, I decided to just do laundry today. While waiting to switch loads, I'm playing Final Fantasy X. Woo. I should also think about packing for Cedar Point and Tennessee since I'm going to be busy tomorrow and Thursday. Huh.

Time to be PRODUCTIVE!

Music Is The Soul

I am watching Le Portrait De Petite Cossette for the first time and something about the music struck a chord with me. With a little investigating, I found that the music was composed by Yuki Kajiura, who also composed the music for my favorite anime, Noir. Just a fun little tidbit.

Life Happens Here

Thursday ended up being a bust. I didn't wake up early enough, so Becky went to get fireworks without me. It kind of worked out though as I wasn't feeling very well (mentally and physically). I spent most of Thursday in bed watching anime and reading. I finished watching Baccano! and started watching Boogiepop Phantom. I really loved Bacccano! and plan on making Patrick watch it with me. I am not really liking Boogiepop, but I'll try to force myself through it.

Friday was busy as all heck. Pat and I went to estate sales all morning with his mom. I found a 1956 unabridged edition of Webster's Dictionary for $5 and a 1908 edition of Journal of Julius Rodman by Edgar Allan Poe for $4. While neither are worth much money, I'm a huge bookworm and love collecting books. I also found an old Alice in Wonderland mug from the early 50s that was made in Japan and is officially licensed. I also collect Alice in Wonderland stuff (not just Disney, all AiW stuff).

After the estate sales, Pat and I ran a bunch of errands. We went to several different stores to find a white sundress for me for my bridal shower. We found an adorable lace dress at JCPennys and a cute pair of sandals at Payless. Best $20 outfit ever. We also tried to find new work shoes for Patrick, but that was a bust. At least we accomplished half of our goals.

Later in the evening, we picked up Becky and took her to Mel's Tavern. Her birthday was Wednesday, so we decided to take her out for drinks last night. Most of our core group showed up. The whole evening was filled with alcohol, cops, funny stories, pizza, powdered sugar and possible plans for drug buying. Everyone got home safe and we all have some damn funny stories to tell.

Tonight, we're having another party for Becky's birthday. It's at her house where we'll set off fireworks, skinny dip, drink in excess and dance drunkenly around a bonfire. It's weekends like this, where I'm drunk and maybe high, that make me feel like I'm still a teenager. The responsibility of being an adult is so far away and the daily stress is a stranger I no longer fear.

Tattoo Update

I'm driving Becky to Pennsylvania today so we can pick up fireworks for her big birthday bonfire/pool party on Saturday. Fireworks are technically illegal in New York state, but we're going to be setting them off in the backwoods of the southern tier. The closest neighbor is several miles away, so I think we'll be fine. We're bringing Stitch with us and will probably be gone most of the day. I love day trips with my bestie. They always lead to lots of laughs, loud music and shenanigans.

Before I head out, here's a picture of the progress on my tattoo. We pretty much finished Ursula yesterday and I love it. She is the crowning piece of the tattoo, so having her finished makes it look so much better! But damn, it really hurt!

Half Sleeve

I've been doing all kinds of odd jobs trying to earn enough money for my tattoo appointment today. While it may seem irresponsible to use any money I have on a tattoo when I am currently unemployed, I can safely say that it is not. To me, finishing my Disney villains half sleeve before October is of utmost priority. First, I do not want to walk down the aisle with an incomplete tattoo. Second, it is a coverup of a rather offensive tattoo and while most of it is covered, there are parts that are still visible and it bothers me. Third, Patrick has no say in this despite his supporting me for the time being. He spent a lot of money on having his motorcycle repainted, getting a tattoo is just like painting except it's my body instead of the motorcycle body.

Behind the cut are pictures of my tattoo before the appointment. I'll post pictures later after my appointment with the progress.

The True Death

I somehow managed to motivate myself yesterday to clean for two hours and this morning I've done two loads of laundry. Later, I'm helping Patrick clean his garage. Hooray for being productive and sweaty (god damn humidity). I don't really have a lot to post today, so enjoy a picture of my cleaning clothes.

Oh! I do have one thing to talk about. I watched the season premiere of True Blood last night. It was a pretty tense episode and I'm very interested in the rest of the season, though there were definitely some very predictable moments. I'm mostly interested in the whole Bill/Jessica situation.

Just Give Me A Reason

I absolutely love this song and video! It gets stuck in head for days at a time and honestly, I just can't get enough. I love their voices together. Seriously.
